I will be going on vacation until after the July 4th weekend, and there will be no one to moderate the forums on more than an occasional basis. Then after my return we will see if we have any qualified moderators who volunteer, and then decide which way we will go with the forum, as far as registration, posting, grouping, and requirements for various categories of membership.

This may mean restricting or shutting down certain parts of the forum and user registrations. It may also require shutting down the forum for periods. These will be announced, if possible if needed.

Posts that have minimal value to a forum or sub-forum may be moved, and the forums may be rearranged, merged, split, or renamed. In most cases all posts will be retained.

We will re-draft our overall statement of purpose, mission, objectives, suggested ways to obtain them. I think we will settle on some combination of open discussion and more limited or closed focus groups that may be by invitation only, or have stricter group requirements.

I should be able to arrange things so that known and trusted posters may continue to post to many or most forums. However it could be that if there are complex problems it might be necessary to shut down the forum until we can deal with them after my vacation. I hope this will not be the case.

We do need volunteers for team members, so drop me a pm if you want to help. Just bear in mind that I may not be able to respond until after my return.

The time I can devote to forum moderation is growing very limited.

Due to a vastly increased load of phony member sign-ups and spam/porn/other objectionable posts that require time-consuming maintenance, new memberships will be restricted to invitation or written requests sent to:

Please include a brief statement of your interests and reasons for wishing to join in the discussions. A paragraph or two should suffice. Also include your desired user name and password. The email address you are sending from must be valid, and will be your registered email unless you later change it in your control panel.

I can also be contacted via my blogsite link posted with my signature below.

This should not affect existing members in any way. We will also remove moderation delays for regular members (those with 3 or more approved posts) on most forums. Posting for those members should once again be instantaneous.

I wish to thank those who have contributed to the forum and express my hope that you continue to do so, and again request volunteer assistance in moderating it. My apologies to any who have been inconvenienced by posting slowdowns over the past month or so.
